ARTIST'S STATEMENT
I am an impressionist painter in acrylics, oil, and pastel who particularly enjoys the beauty and spiritual connection I feel while interpreting the natural landscape, human figure, animal life, and plant life while using a brush, palette knife, or pastel.
For me art is a sentimental journey...a recording of feelings and an opportunity to show reverence for the beauty and variety of the natural world. I hope to connect with people who share my love of landscape and living things. Through the language of art I can express the joy I feel when creating a magical world of unlimited possibilities for combining colors, shapes, lines, and textures.
Although I was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, I grew up in the San Fernando Valley of Southern California. After receiving a BA at CSUN in 1972, I moved to the San Francisco Peninsula to work as a Graphic Designer for an ad agency, followed by positions in marketing for hightech companies. For the last several years I have been able to devote more time to my passion for art making, foreign travel, and enjoying memberships in two pleinair painting groups. As a docent for the San Jose Museum of Art’s “Let’s Look at Art” program I bring a very interactive 50 minute art presentation covering the elements of art, and art history into local elementary school classrooms.
I have won recognition in local art shows and online competitions. Please visit my website for details, and even better...visit Gallery 9.
